REFLECTION
‘The beauty of this world
has made me sad, this beauty that will pass,’
wrote Patrick Pearse. The words of Jesus today are
about a world that will pass. Should they focus our
attention on his second coming or on the destruction
of the beautiful temple, or on the end of the world?
They have a bearing on all three. But they contain
no secret time code. Jesus wasn’t given to answering
questions about when. Instead he told us about how
we are to be now if we are to be ready then.
We get reminders of the passing of the world in the
continual recurring of each of the disasters named
by Jesus and in such new realities as the tsunami
and the Twin Towers calamity. Each of these makes
us sad, even frightened. But the assured presence
of Jesus himself makes every sadness bearable. He
keeps asking us to take care, to endure, to bear witness,
not to be unduly frightened.
The temple that will last is Christ’s body.
Each of us is called to be a living stone of that
temple, an active member of the body given for the
life of the world.

DIOCESAN MASS FOR DECEASED YOUNG PEOPLE
There will be a Special Diocesan Mass on Sunday next
25th November at 3pm in the church. The Mass will
be an opportunity for family and friends who have
lost young loved ones to come together in a spirit

by a young death we invite you in faith to come and
remember the life of your loved one.
The death of those we love is a cause of deep anguish
at any time. We continue to draw upon the reasssuring

find consolation in the pain and sorrow of loss.
